Enhancing Domestic Manufacturing & Funding Eligibility in EV Charging

At Lynkwell, we believe in driving the future of EV infrastructure while strengthening American manufacturing. This commitment ensures that select XLynk™ charger packages meet Build America, Buy America (BABA) standards, thus supporting domestic production and unlocking federal and state funding opportunities for EV charging projects.

What is BABA Compliance?

Build America, Buy America (BABA) is a federal program that is required for infrastructure projects funded by the U.S. government. In the EV charging sector, this means that charging equipment must be substantially manufactured in the United States to qualify for federal and/or state funding.

To be BABA compliant, an EV charger must:

  • Be assembled in the United States
  • Have at least 55 percent of its product costs derived from domestically manufactured components.

How BABA Compliance Benefits You:

  • Access to Federal & State Funding: Compliance with BABA standards makes EV charging projects eligible for additional government incentives and grants.
  • Strengthens Domestic Supply Chain: Prioritizing American-made materials enhances reliability, quality, and long-term sustainability.
  • Supports U.S. Jobs & Innovation: Investing in American manufacturing drives economic growth and job creation within the EV sector. According to analysis conducted by Lynkwell and a research partner, each $1 million investment with a New York State-based EV infrastructure provider can support the creation of five jobs and an additional $500,000 in earnings.

How It Works:

  • Product Eligibility: Chargers must meet domestic manufacturing and assembly requirements.
  • Certification Process: Manufacturers must document and verify compliance.
  • Government Audits & Verification: Agencies may review sourcing and production details before approving funding.
  • Project Qualification: Site hosts and developers must install BABA-compliant chargers to secure federal incentives.

Why It Matters

BABA compliance remains essential as the federal government continues to prioritize American-made infrastructure, ensuring that future funding opportunities favor EV charging projects that align with domestic manufacturing standards.
