Amsterdam’s “build it, and they will come” strategy promotes electric vehicle (EV) adoption by making charging visible and accessible. The city understands that when chargers are available and visible at workplaces and public spaces, more drivers are more confident about making the switch to e-mobility.
Installing Level 2 chargers at key locations like the DMV, County Annex, and Health and Human Services supports employees, residents, and visitors while reinforcing the city’s commitment to sustainability. This investment not only normalizes EV usage but also strengthens the city’s economic appeal, attracting forward-thinking businesses and residents.
As a gateway to the Adirondacks, this project establishes Amsterdam as a critical charging hub for EV-driving tourists.
Amsterdam has revitalization plans moving forward for every major section of our City. The incorporation of EV charging stations in each initiative will be essential to attracting and maintaining the residents and businesses we hope will settle in and rejuvenate these sections.
Michael Cinquanti, Mayor, City of Amsterdam
